It starts with a phone consultation. From there, our team will collaborate with you to create an individualized treatment plan that aligns with your goals.

Meet the Team

  • Alexa Boffoli, LMFT

    Alexa Boffoli is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. After working in a variety of mental health settings with a diverse population of client needs, she has found her passion in treating teens, young adults, parents and families with a focus on eating disorders, depression, anxiety and relationships. Before founding New Lens Mental Health, she was a Regional Director at Evolve Treatment Center, clinically managing Residential Treatment Centers (RTC’s) for adolescents in the Bay Area struggling with mental health and/or substance use issues. She provided individual, group and family therapy as well as conducted clinical supervision for the program therapists and directors. Before RTCs, she supervised and ran a Partial Hospitalization Program for Kaiser clients.

    She began her mental health career graduating Cornell University and was accepted into Teach For America as a Special Education Teacher for IEP students with Emotional Disturbances. After managing the Special Education Department, she went to obtain her master’s in counseling at Santa Clara University. She spent several years after graduating providing individual, group and family services within the school system.

     Alexa provides a warm, collaborative setting for each client and/or family to feel safe and at ease exploring what they want to work on in therapy. Alexa uses the following individualized & evidence based approaches:

    • Family Based Therapy for Eating Disorders (FBT)

    • Trauma-informed Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

    • Narrative Therapy

    • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

    Alexa has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy which focuses on building emotional awareness, mastering effective communication and increasing coping skills to ultimately increase emotional stability and foster personal growth in self and interpersonal relationships.

  • Nicki Cunha, LMFT

    Nicki Cunha is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has extensive experience working with teenagers, young adults, parents and families experiencing trauma, conflict, emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, and co-occurring substance use issues.

    She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and utilizes treatment modalities that support insight, emotional stabilization, behavioral change, harm-reduction, healing, and growth. She originates from the East Coast, and received her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Ma and her Master’s degree in counseling at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Ca. 

    “Nicki believes that connection and trust are the foundation of a strong therapeutic relationship.”

    Nicki is committed to working collaboratively with her clients to create positive and long-lasting change. Her style is easy-going and embodies warmth, compassion, non-judgement, validation, curiosity, and respect. She believes this approach helps create the foundation where hope, resiliency and healing begins.

    Nicki started her career supporting sexual assault and domestic violence survivors in community, incarcerated and safe house settings. From there she worked in residential settings providing individual, family and group therapy to teens, young adults, parents and families. Prior to founding New Lens, she served as the Outpatient Director at Evolve Danville. Nicki’s approach draws on elements of the following modalities:
